Medical Transcription


In simple terms it just typing what doctor /nurse saying. It is basically typist’s job. Treatment given to patient has to be recorded for various purposes like medical insurance claim. One who type the medical records they are called transcriber or a transcriptions. This job is called transcription.

TRANSCRIPTION:
Transcription means changing of one version (voice dictation) to another (text format). Medical Transcription means, transcribing the patient's health records, dictated by the consulting Doctor, into text format.

In earlier days transcriber use to type the word in manual type writer by listening to the audiotape. The terminologies involved and the accent of different persons makes it a bit difficult job.Later days it creeping in to Asian countries creating incredible job opportunity; thanks the advantage and proliferation of Internet.

Skills required to become MT:

  • Proficiency in English
  • Good listening, writing and comprehension skills
  • Need to know medical terminology
  • Typing and basic knowledge in Computers would be an added advantage.
  • Understand US accent
